Overview
For an attractive trekking destination for the weekend, Nag Tibba is a ten on ten in the hinterland of Garhwal. With a maximum height of 9,915 feet, it is perfectly suited for beginners and children, with no risk of altitude sickness, offering a fully lively trek instead.
From Pantwari, a quiet perch in the vicinity of Dehradun-Mussoorie, the trek begins a rocky climb and enters the grove of oak and rhododendrons, on the trail for a few hours. In warm times on this path, you will be greeted with blooms and greenery in summer, while there is an abundance of snow in winter. The camp for the night is in a clearing on the edge of the jungle, reflecting the undesirableness of the Himalayan green slopes extending far and further. The Naga goes up to the Nag Tiba base, marked by a temple dedicated to the Naga deity, and from there the Naga Tibba goes to the top. The climax of the peaks comes with the unveiling of a scene from the Gangotri group of peaks. From the high point of Nag Tibba, you can mark Bandarpoon, Kedarnath, and Chanabung – completely different from the snowy peaks of the Garhwal Himalayas!
